Standard Features
The door on a Wildfire Safety Fire Bunker is made from stainless steel and has two insulation cavities to reduce the transfer of heat. It is heavily reinforced, and is double insulated with a special product that is fire proof and offers outstanding heat resistance. It has a custom made high temperature door seal that will allow for any movement. Due to the doors heavy duty construction it weighs 45 kg and is hydraulically assisted for ease of opening and closing. All bunkers are fitted with battery operated LED lighting.
The location of the entry door (above ground) offers very easy entry into the bunker. This feature will assist all residents, especially our elderly citizens. Fresh air inlet and exhaust ducts, these ducts are used to keep fresh air in the bunker at all times and to stop the build up of condensation when not in use. During the bushfire season these ducts can be sealed off from the inside of the bunker. Every Wildfire Safety Bunker has its own identification plate, bunker number, installation date etc.
In Victoria all bunkers must have sight glass windows fitted to comply with new state building regulations.
Optional Features
A 1000ltr under ground water tank can be fitted to service a roof top sprinkler. The submersible pump in the tank is 12v and powered by a sealed, dry cell battery located beside the bunker. The pump delivers 32lts per minute to the sprinkler head. This will help to extinguish any hot embers around the entry of the bunker for approximately 30 minutes.
A reserve of fresh circulating air can also be installed to the bunker. This will double the air supply available to the occupants and is circulated through the main bunker by two 12 volt fans. These fans also have built in 12 volt LED lights.
The bunker can be fitted with a high temperature glass sight window for outside observations. This small window can also be sealed off from the inside of the bunker. All our slope fronted bunker doors can be fitted with a jack to assist in opening should the door become obstructed.
In installations where 12 volt accessories have been ordered we have available a sealed below ground battery box. The bunker is fitted with a switch panel that also incorporates a mobile phone power socket. A solar panel can also be fitted to service the batteries. Another option made available to our customers is a siren to guide residents to the bunker in thick smoke. A strobe light can also be fitted along with a location beacon that is mounted inside the bunker. We can also supply a heavy steel deflection cage that is fitted over the entry door to the bunker. Residents that have bushfire bunkers installed in the proximity of trees should consider fitting a deflection cage.
